The struggle that is needed to crush death is not a small one. Of course the Lord says: “The Kingdom of God is within us” (Luke 17, 21), but, in a certain way, death is also within us, who battles us and captures us. Therefore, let not the soul back off at all until it deadens the one that has captivated it. And then, every pain, sorrow and sigh will leave, because water will gush out from the thirsty earth and the desert will be filled with springs of water (Is. 41:18). For the Lord promised to fill the desert -heart with living water (Is.44:3).
