The hospital, founded in 1753, reflects the pride of the local Greek community and for many decades was considered the best institution in the area of Constantinople.
The premises stretch out over an area of 164,000m2 amidst magnificent gardens and orchards, with the charming Church of Saint Charalambos drawing many visitors.
The Hospital of Baloukli consists of many clinics (Pathology, Surgical, Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, Neurology, Physiotherapy, Urology, Psychiatry and a Center for Detoxification). There is also a Biochemistry Laboratory, a Radiology Unit and a Geriatric Ward.
Also available are conference and dining facilities, kitchen areas and large recreational facilities for the needs of its residents and visitors, regardless of their cultural background.
Through the years, the operation and maintenance of the Baloukli Hospital has been made possible by the generous donations gives by corporations and private individuals. It is administered by the prudent management of its Board of Directors and the spiritual guidance of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
