The Greatness of Man – Archim. Sophronios

People are afraid of openly looking upon the greatness of man… Because men do not see in themselves or in their brother their authentic and eternal value, they become ferociously bad in their interpersonal relationships and they easily kill one another… For many years I have had a discord in my soul: On the one side, when I am in front of  man,  I am full of enthusiasm and positive amazement, while on the other side, I am filled with grief and bitter “amazement” regarding  men’s  savageness and coarseness.
