The Ascension, Peace and human tumultuousness - St. Gregory of Palamas
You see how each one of us, if of course we so desire, will become communicants of the resurrection and of the ascension of the Lord, inheritors of God and coinheritors of Christ? For this do we rejoice when we celebrate the resurrection and the rising and the regeneration of our nature, together with the beginning of the resurrection and ascension of each faithful, projecting, in the midst of the evangelical words,….that the Lord, when he resurrected, stood in front of his apostles….So he stood in their midst and said “peace be unto you”, this sweet and important and usual greeting….As he saw them fearful and disturbed, he brought them back in to the reflection of their hearts.
